Ms. Rachel Heyman
A'cappella Elective Director, Junior Choir Director
Ms. Rachel Heyman is a chorus teacher at Hommocks Middle School in the Mamaroneck Union Free School District in Westchester County. There, she directs the 6th & 7th grade choirs, a select 6th grade ensemble, and also serves as the music director for the annual school musical. Previously, she taught chorus and general music at Pleasantville Middle School for four years. She began her career teaching middle school general music and chorus in The Bronx, NY and elementary general music and chorus in Brooklyn, NY.

Rachel graduated Summa Cum Laude from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Music Education where she was named a Visual and Performing Arts Scholar. She also holds a Master of Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Rachel has an extensive background in musical theater as she has music-directed over 25 children’s musicals and has also performed in various community productions. As a singer, she has performed internationally with award-winning choirs and regionally with acapella ensembles where she has served as music director, arranger, and vocal percussionist.

This will be Rachel’s 15th summer back at Bristol Hills Music Camp, which has brought her a wonderful Bristol family and a place to call home. She was a camper for three years, a CIT for one year, and a counselor for five years before joining the staff. This will be Rachel’s 6th year on the Bristol Hills staff where she teaches Junior Chorus, Junior Sight-Singing, and the Acapella Elective.
